Freekfest Monster Festival

Created an original typeface, Vladimir Gothic. Inspired by a the 15th-century governor of Romania named, Vlad the Impaler (or Dracula), Prince of Wallachia. This warlord was known for his brutal tactics against his enemies, including impalement. He was born in what is now Transylvania and ruled over the region of Wallachia. The sharp pointed ends of each letter are unique, with relation to the historical warlord’s use of sharp stakes.

After developing the typeface, I created an event in which the typeface would be used. A festival for classic monster enthusiasts to enjoy events based around their favorite genre, horror classics. The four main monsters showcased for the event are Dracula, The Mummy, The Werewolf and Frankenstein. The name for the event is a play on words with “Freek” translating back to the word “Geek”. The target audience are “geeks” for classic horror stories.
